Admission & Discharge

Pre-Admission

Patients admitted to Townsville Private Clinic must either have suitable Private Health Insurance, DVA Status, Work Cover or the ability to self fund their admission. By calling 1800 884 767, our dedicated Admissions and Assessment team will conduct an over-the-phone assessment and obtain your health fund details in order to confirm a health fund or eligibility check and co-ordinate the allocation of a Psychiatrist. All patients require a referral from a General Practitioner or treating Psychiatrist.

Admission

On arrival, our Administration staff will complete your admission process and Nursing staff will then show you to your room. An orientation of the Clinic will be provided. Accommodation consists mostly of single rooms with private ensuite and some shared rooms with shared bathroom.

Discharge

If you're staying for a day program before going home, please speak to our staff to arrange storage of your belongings during the day. Please also check with your Nurse before leaving the Clinic to make sure you collect any medications, and to confirm any follow up appointments. All patients are required to report to reception to complete all paperwork and finalise any outstanding accounts.

As part of an inpatient discharge plan, some inpatients will transfer to a day program. Our staff will advise you of any additional requirements.
